Company History

1936 - Parent company, Sugino Machine Ltd., founded in Osaka City under the company name of Sugino Cleaner Works as a specialized manufacturer of pneumatic and water-pressure tube cleaners.

1945 - Factory was forced to move to Uozu, Toyama Prefecture due to WWII

1962Uozu Factory construction completed in Hongo, Uozu City

1966Research Center completed 

1970 Namerikawa Factory

1970Namerikawa Factory completed in Nakanoshima, Namerikawa City

1971Company name changed to Sugino Machine Limited

1978 - Sugino establishes Chicago liaison to serve North American customers.

1980 - Sugino U.S.A. established.

1966 Sugino Research Center

1986Kakegawa Factory completed in Nagaya, Kakegawa City.

1988 - Sugino U.S.A. becomes Sugino Corp. Present facility in Schaumburg, Illinois built. Manufacturing of American-made Newtric Selfeeder drill units begins.

1993Hayatsuki Factory completed in Kuriyama, Namerikawa City.

1993 Hayatsuki Factory1993 - Hayatsuki Factory completed.

1994 Subsidiary established in  Singapore. 

1994 - Sugino Corp. develops the Jet-Flex machining and deburring system.

1998 - ISO9001 Certification achieved

2002Subsidiary established in Shanghai.

2003 - Chicago office relocated to Itasca, IL

2003 - Sugino Corp introduces U-Jet cavitation Technology to the USA.

2003 - Subsidiary established in Thailand.

2005 - Prague, CZ office opened

2005 - Sugino Changshu Co., Ltd. established in Changshu.

2007 -  Subsidiary established in Mexico.

2007 - Monterrey, MX office opened

2009 - Detroit, MI office opened

2013 - Paris France office opened

2013Subsidiary established in Indonesia.

2013 - Aguascalientes, MX office opened

2014Subsidiary established in India.

2014 - Zippel, GmbH acquired

2016 - Sugino Machine celebrates the 80th anniversary

2016 - Detroit office relocated to new Technical Center in Wixom, MI

2018 - Houston, TX office opened to serve Gas/Oil and Chemical Industries

1973 - First electric Selfeeder revolutionizes hole-making worldwide.

1975 - Synchro-Tapper developed with synchronized feed and spindle rotation to produce Class 3 thread accuracy.

1978 - Sugino establishes Chicago liaison to serve North American customers.

1980 - Sugino U.S.A. established.

1981 - Computer-controlled, ball-screw Mechatric developed with four programmable drilling motions.

1988 - Sugino U.S.A. becomes Sugino Corp. Present facility in Schaumburg, Illinois built. Manufacturing of American-made Newtric Selfeeder drill units begins.

1990 - U.S. patent granted for Newtric features.

1991 - Mechatric MSX unveiled. Utilizes Fanuc single-axis CNC control.

1994 - Sugino Corp. develops the Jet-Flex machining and deburring system.

1995 - MSZ Mechatric introduced with 12 pre-programmed drill patterns, cutting feed rates. Conversational NC control. 100 program memory.

1996 - Revolutionary Duomech delivers precision drilling and tapping in one pass. Patented.

1997 - 'Jet-O-Mation' machines developed for deburring small, mass produced parts using high pressure waterjet technology.

1998 - ISO9001 Certification achieved

1999 - Jet-Flex Center Machine developed for use with a single arm robot for automated part loading and unloading.

2000 - Model ST2 and ST3 SynchroTappers developed with AC servo motors, digital input for stroke and rpm, and four programmable operating patterns.

2001 - Chicago office relocated to Itasca, IL

2003 - Sugino Corp introduces U-Jet cavitation Technology to the USA.

2005 - Prague, CZ office opened

2007 - Monterrey, MX office opened

2009 - Detroit, MI office opened

2013 - Paris France office opened

2013 - Aguascalientes, MX office opened

2014 - Zippel, GmbH acquired

2014 - Introduction of ST2M and ST3M Servo Tappers with Mitsubishi motors and controls

2015 - Introduction of Barriquan Deburring Toolholder

2016 - Sugino Machine celebrates the 80th anniversary

2016 - Detroit office relocated to new Technical Center in Wixom, MI

2018 - Houston, TX office opened to serve Gas/Oil and Chemical Industries

2018 - Barriquan Robotic Deburring cell debuts at IMTS 2018.

November 1968 - Granted the 2nd Small & Medium Enterprise Research Center Award

1970 Namerikawa Factory

April 1971Company name changed to Sugino Machine Limited

May 1971 - Awarded financial grant by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry for the development of key technology in ultrahigh-pressure pumps.

1971 High Pressure PumpDecember 1971Received the 1971 Top 10 New Product Award from the Nikkan Kogyo Newspaper for its "Ultrahigh-Pressure Pump". 

July 1975Received the Prime Minister's Award for contributions to industrial safety. 

July 1978Chicago Office opened.

August 1980 - Subsidiary established in the United States.

November 1980Head Office completed.

January 1984Head Office visited by Prince Takamatsunomiya.

1986 Kakegawa Factory

October 1984Singapore Representative Office opened.

August 1986Kakegawa Factory completed in Nagaya, Kakegawa City.

October 1993Hayatsuki Factory completed in Kuriyama, Namerikawa City.

1993 Hayatsuki FactoryAugust 1994 - Hayatsuki Factory visited by the Crown Prince and Princess.

December 1994 Subsidiary established in  Singapore. 

September 1995Sugino Maintenance Service Co., Ltd. established. 

April 1998Kyoritsu Seiki Co., Ltd. joined Sugino Group.

September 1988Acquired ISO9001 certification.

March 2002  - Name of Sugino Maintenance Service Co., Ltd. changed to Sugino Direct Service Co., Ltd.

July 2002Subsidiary established in Shanghai.

August 2003Subsidiary established in Thailand.

September 2005Prague Branch Office established.

October 2005Sugino Changshu Co., Ltd. established in Changshu.

April 2007 -  Subsidiary established in Mexico.

May 2011Nihon Jig Co., Ltd. joined Sugino Group.
